Construction for a new spot for pooches is well under way in Tongala.
While it’s currently nothing more than dirt and a few rocks, an exciting new space for our four-legged friends is taking shape rapidly.
This long-awaited project, part of a broader initiative to create two dog parks in Campaspe Shire, promises to transform the area behind Brose Recreation Reserve into a vibrant community asset.
The new pooch destination, where construction began at the end of May, is set to be complete in the coming weeks if weather permits.
The off-leash dog park will boast an array of engaging features, including a rustic dry creek bed, an adventurous clamber mound, refreshing water stations and lush new turf for playful paws.
There will also be a quiet off-leash dog area for the more timid and smaller dogs to mingle without being intimidated by the more outgoing or bigger pooches.
For the comfort of pet owners, a well-designed gravel path will encircle the park, ensuring easy navigation of the reserve.
Additionally, a weatherproof shelter will provide a comfortable resting area, regardless of the elements.
Tongala Development Committee president Jason Kelley said the dog park would be a great addition to Tongala.
“It’s a positive sign for the community in terms of growth,” Mr Kelley said.
“I think it will be a good place to socialise, a safe space to take dogs to get a run around.”
Following the completion of the dog park, construction will begin in Edis Park, Kyabram, where a similar off-leash dog park will be built.
