The Deniliquin Collectors Club will host the National Historical Machinery Association’s National Tractor Convention at Memorial Park.
It will run over three days, from April 26 to 28, with guests arriving from Anzac Day.
While the event itself is for NHMA members only, Deniliquin Collectors Club secretary Daryl Whateley said there will be a bit of a spectacle for the community.
All 80 tractors will be involved in tractor treks on the Friday and Saturday.
Travelling in groups of 20, they will make their way through Deniliquin before taking off-the-highway routes to their destinations in either Mathoura or Blighty.
“Two treks will go north, meeting for lunch at the Blighty Hotel, overlapping and then completing the circle back to Memorial Park,” Mr Whateley said.
“Two treks will go south, meeting for lunch at Moama, overlapping and circling back to Memorial Park.
“Each group with then do the other route on the following day.
“On Sunday there will be a shorter trek through the forest adjacent to Memorial Park for all participants, returning for lunch and a farewell.”
Mr Whateley said only four local tractors are registered for the event so far, with the rest coming from all over Australia.
He said while camping options were presented to the attendees, he believes most are choosing to stay with local accommodation providers during their stay.
And he said the economic benefit for Deniliquin and district may increase depending on how many choose to bring their partners or family along for the trip.
The weekend’s schedule will also include the NHMA annual general meeting.
