Indigo Shire Council has joined the annual campaign to call for the elimination of violence against women and girls and invites you to get involved in Rutherglen on Wednesday, November 26.
The 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence is a widely recognised global campaign that signifies action towards ending violence against women and girls around the world.
It runs every year from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends on December 10, Human Rights Day.
By joining the walk you can take action and demonstrate your solidarity with people who've experienced violence.
The gentle walk lasts about 12 minutes before hearing from police officers and other services.
Everyone is welcome.
Bring your workmates, friends, family, chosen family, even our dog is welcome.
Wear orange if you can, bring a water bottle, maybe a colourful sign or banner and if possible, a gold coin donation to support the Centre Against Violence.
The walk starts at 4:00pm from the Apex Park BBQ shelter off Murray Street, Rutherglen and follows a gentle circuit around Lake King before returning to the BBQ shelter.
You are invited to stay for afternoon tea and conversation with The Centre Against Violence and local Family Violence Prevention Police Officers.
If you can’t make Wednesday’s walk, another one starts from the Yarrawonga foreshore at 9am on Sunday, November 30.
