The wellbeing of two young children found at the address where a woman’s body was found on Tuesday morning is the number one priority, police say.

A 45-year-old man, who was known to police, has been arrested and is being interviewed by homicide detectives, after the body of a 32-year-old woman was found at a unit block on Cobram’s Christie Ave around 5am on Tuesday, August 19.
Speaking to reporters, Victorian Police Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said police were still piecing together the circumstances around the woman’s death.
Police say the man was known to police.

“What exactly [the two children have] seen, we don’t know,” he said.
“One woman killed in circumstances like this is too many, and it shouldn’t happen.”
In the days before the incident, neighbours reported having seen a woman in her 30s walking along the nearby footpath with two young children.
They said the woman appeared to struggle to walk.
Det Insp Thomas ruled out any further incidents occurring in the wake of the woman’s death.
“It appears to be at this stage a targeted attack,” he said.
“People should be safe in their homes, people should be safe in their relationships, and we want to make sure that’s what happens.
“We will work extremely hard to hold those responsible to account for what they’ve done.”
