The Knights are leaning towards resting State of Origin representatives Kalyn Ponga and Dylan Lucas given a tight turnaround into Friday's rematch.
Either Fletcher Sharpe or Fletcher Hunt will likely push to fullback if Queensland's Ponga misses out, while young forward Cody Hopwood is a leading contender for more minutes in place of NSW second-rower Lucas.
"I've told our side, 'plan on them not playing'," said coach Justin Holbrook.
"I'll see how they feel tomorrow, to be honest, and make a decision there."
Marzhew became only the 10th player in the NRL era to score five tries in a game when the Knights scored a 44-10 win in Young's second game as interim coach last month.
In 28 seasons since the Dragons' merger with Illawarra, no player has ever scored as many tries in a single game against the club.
"He scored five tries, didn't he? That's a big day," Young said.
Since then, the last-placed Dragons have notched a first win of the season against reigning premiers Brisbane and turned in more competitive performances against heavyweights Penrith, the Warriors and Cronulla.
"We've definitely improved since that day (against Newcastle)," said Young.
Dragons right winger Setu Tu will again mark up on Marzhew on Friday, but Young said it was not just up to the rookie to defuse his star opposite man.
"It starts before it gets to Setu. It's a team job to defend the Knights ... our edges need to be ready because they ask a lot of questions of you," Young said.
"Their back five start their sets, we've got to be good on them. Once they work up the field, they certainly move the ball a lot. That starts with the tackle.
"We need to win our tackle so then we can get forward and not give them as much time."
Young is unsure whether Parramatta recruit Jaydn Su'A has played his last game for the Dragons following surgery on a pectoral injury suffered against the Sharks.
The former Queensland second-rower was an observer at captain's run in Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
"Haven't even thought about that," Young said.
"He's in good hands with our medical staff and we'll just take it day by day."
The Knights expect to lose forward Pasami Saulo until at least "the back-end of the year" after a foot injury suffered at training this week.
