Cats 16.10-106 def Yack 9.9-63
Round eighteen has appeared incredibly quickly this year and the Cats welcomed Yack for the final game, both sides sitting a couple of games outside the five and only pride to play for.
With the first round clash being a tight affair, Rutherglen knew this would be the same and that’s how it played out.
There was only a kick in it for the first three quarters but to the Cats credit, they turned it on in the last quarter to run out seven goal winners, keeping Yack goalless in the last quarter.
Credit to the senior group for the way they have finished the year off after a few things haven’t gone their way at different times. They have stuck together and provided supporters with some very entertaining football.
Not being in the finals race this year is a bitter pill to swallow but hats off to all those that will be participating may the best team win.

Reserves
Cats 7.6-48 def by Yack 10.7-67
The Cats Reserves played a really good brand of footy, staying within three goals of the undefeated Yack team.
All the boys played their part and finished the season off with plenty of passion and fight.
With so many boys playing through the senior side this season, keeping consistency is always hard work.
Well done to the reserves who have represented the club well all season. To just miss out on the finals is a result you should be proud of and a great effort.

In a tough final game the Rutherglen U14 team was beaten by Yackandandah. The young Cats battled all day but were well beaten by an older, bigger Yackandandah outfit. Jack Keys continued his strong form with a best on ground performance and was well supported by Indi Kotzur and Lochie Webb. Charlie James and Rory Beatie battle well in defence with Lenny Hill also playing one of his best games for the year.
