Corowa A Grade has had its season ended on Saturday at Ball Park going down to Kiewa by 7 wickets.

After making yet another Preliminary Final A Grade were out-batted by a strong Kiewa line-up despite a strong partnership between Jared Lane and Jordan Hanstead.
Kiewa first won the toss and sent the home side in on a pitch that looked to offer a bit for the bowlers early.
The decision turned out to be a good one for Kiewa as the away side dismantled Corowa’s top order. Matt Wilson (30) was the only contributor in the top five and again Corowa looked to be in trouble at 5 for 63.
For the second week in a row it was left to Jarred Lane (35) and Jordan Hanstead (36) who delivered again with a 62 run partnership to lead the home side to a competitive total of 136.The second innings started well for Corowa with an early breakthrough from opener Nick Grant (1 for 23) who again bowled well.
It was all Kiewa from then on as they breezed their way to the total as the home side created small chances but couldn’t break through at any crucial stages.
Mark Athanitis (1 for 15) bowled brilliantly through the middle overs to take the game as deep as possible.
Nathan Rhodes (1 for 36) also claimed a late wicket but it was Kiewa’s day passing Corowa’s total only 3 wickets down in the 37th over and ending A grades year in yet another prelim final.A Grade would like to thank all the supporters that came down throughout the year and look forward to seeing you all again next season.
B Grade
B Grade are into the Grand Final after another dominated display, this time defeating Kiewa by 109 runs at Yackandandah.
Winning the toss, Corowa elected to bat first and moved the score along to 19 before Ryan Beveridge went for 11.
Greg Burgess and Jeremy Carr scored freely with Carr appearing in great from racing to 35 before he was dismissed.
When Burgess was dismissed on the drinks break for 33, Corowa was in a great position at 3 for 93. Matthew Hince and Doug Lavis put on a great partnership of 83 in 15 overs before Lavis went for a well-made 46.
Hince continued to score well bringing up his half century and with Will Seymour making a quick 13 Corowa finished their 40 overs at 5 for 211 with Hince making 54 not out.
In reply Kiewa were in trouble from the second over when Greg Burgess bowled the opener.
With Joe Hansen on line as well it took Kiewa 22 balls to score their first runs.
When Hansen picked up two quick wickets Kiewa fell to 3 for 25 by the 11th over.
Doug and Patrick Lavis continued to bowl tightly and when they both picked up a wicket each, Kiewa was really struggling at 5 for 42 after 22 overs.
Kiewa batted out the rest of the overs to finish at 7 for 102 after 40 overs and a big victory for Corowa.
Hansen the only multiple wicket taker with 2 for 14 off 7 overs.
This sees the side take on Howlong this Saturday in the Grand Final at Ball Park Oval.
C Grade Div 2
C Grade Div 2 are into the Grand Final after defeating top placed St Patricks in a thriller at Xavier. After going down last week by one wicket, the tables were turned this week with the side winning by 1 wicket with Tom Moloney the hero.
After losing the toss, Corowa bowled first and did a great job in restricting St Patricks to 8 for 157 off their 40 overs.
Ryan Mills was the leading wicket taker with 3 for 28 off his 8 overs.
Marc Playford lent great support taking 1 for 17 off 8 overs while youngsters Will Julian and Stirling Letchford were good in the field taking some very important catches.
In reply Corowa was in trouble early losing two early wickets to be 2 for 5.
Liam Carter (23), Matt Shipard (12), Riley Carter (15) and Cal Carter (22) all got starts but when Corowa fell to 8 for 129 the game looked gone.
Tom Moloney who came to the crease at 4 for 55 found a helpful partner in Ryan Mills and these two got Corowa back into the game.
Mills smashed 3 boundaries and a six while Moloney sensible knocked the ball around as Corowa got within 1 run before Mills was dismissed for 21.
Marc Playford saw out the last ball of the over, before Moloney smashed the next ball for four to see Corowa into the Grand Final with Moloney finished with a match winning 39 not out.
The side now takes on the side that beat them last week in Tallangatta at Xavier 2.
Under 16’s
Corowa Under 16’s took on the strong Wodonga Raiders team in a shortened 20/20 game after rain on Thursday.
Early overs from Riley Allan and Patrick Lavis tied the gun Raiders outfit down to only be 1/50 after 10 overs with Vic Country player Stewart already out.
Some dropped catches cost dearly as the middle order then went on a rampage to end up posting 1-150 from 20.
Riley Allan was pick of the bowlers. Things went from bad to worse as the Corowa line up was then dismantled trying to get quick runs.
The boys were all out of 67.
Regardless of the result the boys should be proud of their season, finishing 3rd and knocking off more fancied opponents during the year.
Under 12’s
Corowa White took on St Patricks in the under 12’s semi-final at Howlong.
Bowling first, as they have done all year, the youngsters had Patties in all sorts.
Barring a few no balls due to the damp ground, the bowling just kept coming at St Pats as Corowa limited them to 80 from 23 overs.
Joe Lavis with 2 and Tex Longmire were the wicket takers. Special mention to Eli Lavis, whose 3 overs for 7 had the batsmen at a loss.
The Corowa innings started slowly with a couple of great shots from Benji Hanrahan and Rusty Collins unluckily caught.
Joe Lavis and Tex Longmire righted the ship however until Joe was run out at 48.
Some nervous moments ensued but the youngsters got over the line thanks to some great hitting from Tex Longmire in a very tight situation.
He finished not 38 from his 25 balls, with important contributions from all players.
White now take on Howlong in the Grand Final on Friday night at Howlong.
