Angling About

Club President Peter Tidd with raffle winner Di Collins claiming her trailer load of wood.

The start of June has seen the opening of cray season for 2022.

While Murray Crays are out and about, the river current is running very fast and has claimed quite a number of nets that are being swept away or pulled under by the current.

This is good for the stores selling them, but not so good for the punters losing them.

If you can find a calmer area of the river to place your nets, remember to follow the current rules for taking Murray Crays.

Bag limits of two a day per person with carapace to eye socket measure between 10 to 12 cm. Please check www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing for all regulations.

Corowa Anglers have completed their annual wood raffle, drawn on the club’s Annual Cray Day held last Saturday. The winner of the raffle was Di Collins from the Corowa Hotel. She was extremely happy to have her prize unloaded for her Sunday morning.

The club would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket. All funds from the sale of the tickets go to restocking the Murray River around Corowa with native fish. This ensures more years of fishing to come in the area.

Some large Cod still being taken down on Lake Mulwala and a lot of Redfin still to be caught up at Lake Hume.

Locally there have been reports of Yellow Belly and a small number of Cod still happy to bend a line.

Happy fishing.
