Moama Bowling Club is the division one midweek pennant champion after overcoming a gallant Rochester by 20 shots last Friday.
Putting the heartbreak of last season behind them, the Steamers were 70-50 victors at Rochester Bowls Club, highlighted by a dominant rink victory to Cameron Keenan.
Keenan simply couldn’t miss en route to a sublime 37-9 win at his former club as Keryn Awty, Margot Brennan and David Lonnie all found their mark.
The quartet’s win was the Steamers’ only winning rink of the day as Kyabram product Olivia Cartwright drew 18-18 in a tight contest against Rochester’s Brian Trengove and Rochester reeled back a rink through Richard Feuk, who was a 23-15 winner over Marilyn Stephenson.
Keenan’s rink was largely responsible for a runaway start to the clash, with Moama leading 25-9 after 15 ends.
Rochester staged a spirited mid-game fightback to draw within 12 shots after 46 through Feuk and Trengove but another Keenan burst put the game to bed.
It was the first of two flags on the day for Moama, with its division two going on to claim the premiership against Echuca.
