Cats feel preliminary pain

The Rutherglen Cats Under-14 finals campaign has come to an end following a tough contest in Saturday’s preliminary final.

Losses are never easy, particularly when you’ve worked so hard to get there, but when they look back on this season, there is so much more to celebrate than yesterday’s result.

The club is incredibly proud of the way the boys have represented the footy club throughout the season; hold your heads high, Cats, there is plenty for you to be proud of.

A huge thank you to coaches Brendan O’Donoghue and Dallas Colman for the time, commitment and support they have given this playing group throughout the season.

Hopefully everyone enjoys a well-earned break before coming together in a couple of weeks to celebrate the season at the club’s junior presentation.

Youngest Cats to take the big stage

The weather certainly wasn’t kind to the junior players on Saturday, but it didn’t dampen their excitement at having the opportunity to play at Sandy Creek.

The Under-12 footballers played a brilliant game, showcasing the skills, sportsmanship and development they have built throughout the season.

It was fantastic to see them embrace the opportunity and enjoy their moment on the big stage.

Thanks go to coaches Andy McFarlane and Ben Prescott for everything they have invested in this group throughout the year.

The Cats Under-11 netballers also had their chance to take to the new Sandy Creek courts.

With a slippery ball and fingers they could barely feel, the young Cats were fantastic.

They kept competing, played great netball and showed the determination, teamwork and spirit everyone loves to see.

Thanks go to coaches Jane McInnes and Elle Lawrence for the care, encouragement and development they have provided the two youngest netball teams this season.

The future is looking bright in the navy and white.

The Rutherglen Football Club would like to give a massive shout out to the Cats community for once again showing up and getting the job done.

From the canteen and coffee station to football game-day duties, there were plenty of people who gave their time to help the day run smoothly.

A particular mention must go to those running the boundary and goal umpiring in sometimes torrential conditions; that is commitment!

It’s great to know when the club is given a job to do, people show up, lend a hand and ensure the job gets done.

The club also thanks sponsor Valentines Bakery for their support throughout the season and for supplying the coffee that helped keep supporters warm throughout some very wet days.

For now, it’s time for players, coaches, families and volunteers to put their feet up and enjoy a well-earned break.
