The Cats returned to Barkly Park on Saturday, where the early morning fog eventually cleared to reveal a perfect winter's day for football.
Rutherglen made a strong start, taking control in the opening quarter with clean ball movement and plenty of intensity around the contest.
Dederang responded well in the second term, turning the game into a genuine arm wrestle as both sides battled hard for every possession.
After the main break, the Cats produced their best football of the day.
Their pressure around the ball and relentless defensive effort were outstanding, completely shutting the Bombers out of the contest and holding them scoreless for the entire third quarter.
It was a dominant period to set up victory.
The final term was another tough, contested affair, but Rutherglen maintained their composure to secure a valuable win; one that sees the Cats climb back into the top five and continue building momentum at the right time of the season.
There were plenty of strong contributors across the ground.
Jayke Nicholson and Brendan Morris were outstanding in defence, repelling countless Dederang attacks and providing plenty of drive from the back half.
Up forward, Matt Halton's relentless pressure created numerous scoring opportunities and set the tone for the forward line.
Through the midfield, Reed Bonat and James Tanner continually drove the Cats into attack, winning important contests and giving their forwards first use.
The scoreboard reflected the team's unselfish brand of football, with 10 individual goal kickers.
Charlie Beattie led the way with three majors in another impressive performance.
The Cats now turn their attention to a huge challenge against the ladder-leading Kiewa next week as the club also gets behind TAC Round.
It promises to be a great contest, and the Cats will look forward to another important clash.

The Cats reserves turned on a statement performance at the weekend, blowing the Bombers away with a powerful 74-point victory.
From the first bounce, the Cats looked sharp, hungry and dangerous, piling on scoreboard pressure to charge to a 14.11 (95) to 3.3 (21) win.
Baxter Lane-Gee was the headline act in attack, booting six goals in a dominant display, while Declan Thomson and Bailey Nichol added two each to keep the Bombers under constant pressure.
Jack Reid, Dayle Barrett, Charlie Poole and Lincoln Barnes also joined the goal-kicking rush as the Cats shared the rewards in an impressive team performance.
Thomas Kilpatrick, Jack Reid, Baxter Lane-Gee, Ryan Milthorpe, Dayle Barrett and Jordan Rhodes were named among the Cats’ best, capping a dominant reserves’ showing that should send plenty of belief through the group.

The Under 17 Rutherglen Cats took on Dederang Mount Beauty at Barkly Park, hoping to lift their spirits after a series of tough matches.
The conditions were foggy at the start, but they brightened as the game progressed.
The Cats began strongly, with Captain Flynn Verhulst and Bryce Maloney scoring goals in the first quarter, showcasing their intent to dominate.
Jax Ramsey battled in the Ruck and was tapping down to Hugo Poole and Phoenix Wight who had a strong game, however, despite the Cats’ strong start, the Bombers held a 15-point lead at quarter time.
In the second term, Dederang proved to be too strong, and Rutherglen struggled to contain them, managing only a goal from Brayden McInnes.
The Rutherglen backline, consisting of Elijah McFarlane, Arthur Morris, Tyler Yeoman and Jaylen Cracknell, was under constant pressure and had to hold firm against the onslaught.
By halftime, Dederang had extended their lead to 35 points.
The third quarter saw Dederang continue to pile on the pressure, leaving Rutherglen goalless.
The coaches urged the Cats to lift in the final quarter, and they responded by outscoring their opponents, with goals from Logan Morley and Flynn Verhulst bringing some hope, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Despite the loss, Rutherglen should be proud of their effort against a strong opponent.
The Cats take on Kiewa Sandy Creek next week at Coulston Park, looking to find their winning form as the season nears its end.

This week the Cats hosted Dederang/Mount Beauty at Barkly Park.
The first quarter was a real arm wrestle with both teams playing a high-pressure brand of football, with the first goal of the game going to DMB.
The Cats’ finished the quarter strongly kicking the next two goals thanks to Patrick Colman and Noah Cracknell, taking an 8-point lead into quarter-time.
The rest of the game was a tough contest where the young Cats were challenged by a determined Bombers side, but to their credit the Cats were able to withstand the pressure and grind out a tough, well-deserved win.

It was a very foggy four quarters of football, with the fog only thickening as the game went on, making it very difficult for the coaches and players to see each other.
The conditions didn’t slow the boys down though, as they put together a fantastic four-quarter team performance.
Their hard work and improvement each week continues to shine through, and it was great to be rewarded with a well-deserved win.
Next up, the Cats hit the road to take on Kiewa. We’re excited for the challenge and can’t wait to see the kids continue their great form.

Despite the 28–56 result, the team worked well together and showed great determination throughout
the game.
The shooters combined effectively and the addition of Ruby boosted the team’s confidence.
With an average age in the teens, this young team continues to develop each week at the highest level of country netball.

Another tough game against the Bombers, who were too strong on the day.
The Cats tried many different combinations, and the girls adapted quickly to any rolling substitutes.
Charlotte took direction well and Abbie held down the shooting circle.

The girls played a determined game but unfortunately it just wasn’t their day.
Kara worked hard in attack to bring the ball down the court and propel it into the goal circle.
Ava played a great game applying tremendous pressure to her opponents.

The Cats came out firing after the week off and led at the first break.
They played a great four-quarter game, stayed levelheaded and kept up the positive talk, taking their first win for the season.
Everyone played their role, led by Faith at centre, Holly at goal shooter, and Cadie at goal keeper.
The win that the girls deserve finally came their way after a lot of hard work and many close games.
The club is incredibly proud of their effort and resilience.

Another cracking game from the U15 Cats, with every player contributing to a strong team performance.
The first quarter was closely contested, but the girls remained focused, worked hard for one another and showed
great teamwork throughout the match.
They continued to trial new combinations and it was fantastic to see players embrace the challenge, step into different roles and give 100 percent every time they took to the court.
The hunger to win the ball, support teammates and keep working for each other was evident all game.
Week after week this group continues to grow in confidence, accept feedback and put it into practice, with their development throughout the season clear to see.
The club is proud of the progress they’re making and can’t wait to see what the second half of the season brings.

With a ripping game from the Under 13 girls this week, the team played with determination and heart from the first whistle to the last.
At half-time the coaches made strategic changes, switching a few players into different positions, and it made a big difference.
The girls fought their way back from a 10-goal deficit to finish just three goals behind.
Their teamwork, resilience, and never-give-up attitude were outstanding.
The club recognizes an amazing effort from the girls and are proud of their self-belief, passion and determination.

The girls had a strong game on the weekend, with accuracy in the ring and tight defence.
The team started a bit rusty after a well-deserved week off but soon found their composure and played well.

A very chilly start to the day for the girl,s with their fingers taking the whole game to warm up, however they played a solid game with great movement down the court.
