The sun was shining as the Cats hosted Barnawartha at Barkly Park and a large crowed watched a much more improved Cats outfit from earlier in the season.
The first half was a tight tussle and at half time the scores were locked at 29 apiece.
The third quarter saw the Tigers regroup and with the Cats offering turnovers around the ground the Tigers kicked away to a 21point lead at the final break.
Although the young Cats tried hard to bring the margin back in the final term, the damage was done and the Tigers took the win by 27 points.

The Reserves Cats coaches did another fantastic job getting a team on the ground against Barnawartha on Saturday. While the boys tried very hard, they were never able to match the very strong Barnawartha team. The club appreciates very much the efforts of all that played to make a game of it.
Award Winners: Poachers Paradise Hotel – Jarrod Bowering, Schnitz Albury – Dayle Barrett, Metro Petroleum – Hayden Weller, Rutherglen Pizza – Jake Meyer, Club Corowa – Matt Andison.

Cats 13-7-85 def Barny 4-6-30
The warmest day for quite some time and with the sun shining down on Barkly Park the boys had a convincing win over Barny. Injuries and illness again took a toll with only 16 available to take the field.
The boys got off to a flying start kicking six goals one to zero in the first quarter. Except for a 10-minute lapse in the second quarter when Barny kicked three goals, Rutherglen never looked like losing the lead.
All 16 players contributed well, with many stepping up to play out of position including Fred playing full forward and contributing with three goals and Ollie playing in the ruck.
All the boys played with heart and soul, many playing their best games of the year including Harry Saville, Laiton, Ryan and Ari chipping in with his goal of the year contender.
Goal Kickers: Ethan 3, Fred 3, Harry Chandler 2, Laiton 1, Mitch 1, Flynn 1, Ryan 1
Hopefully this win gives the boys the confidence and momentum to go into their final game and heading into the finals with a renewed sense of optimism. Go Cats!

Cats 16-16-112 def Barnawartha 0
The Cats enjoyed their last home game of the season at Barkly Park. On paper the Cats started the match as the favourite and were looking to head into the finals with some good form.
As the form line would predict, it was a dominant performance by the team. Kaden Saunders got the team off to a strong start kicking two goals in the first quarter and provided a lively option. Ben Pagan-Saunders and Dustin Fisher had a successful day out kicking three goals each.
It was also a strong performance from Brayden McInnes who provided a focal point up forward, and Callum Potter who both hit the scoreboard. Jayke O’Malley proved his worth as the team general in the backline. At the final siren Rutherglen had managed to hold Barnawartha scoreless and posted 112 points.
Next week the Cats hit the road for the last game of the home and away season at Dederang Mount Beauty. Please get around our under 14s team as they prepare for their finals campaign. Go Cats!

This week we hosted Barnawartha in a 3rd v 4th battle, Barnawartha came out on fire but luckily for us they were inaccurate in front of goal. In the second quarter we kicked our first goal of the game in what would be a very even contest, with us holding a 2-point lead at 3/4 time.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t hang on, with Barnawartha over running us in the last quarter in a hard-fought contest, it was a great effort from the young Cats.
Award Winners: Slopes $10 – Noah Cracknell, Silver Key Café – Pat Colman, Rutherglen Lolly Shop – Tilly Brown, Danny Johnson Most Courageous – Sevi Cottam, McFarlane Family – Logan Field, Coaches Award – Cody O’Donoghue.

Cats came up against Barny on Saturday. From the first whistle the girls came out switched on which made for an even contest in the first half from both sides, with Cats defenders Tiarnie and Bylee working hard together to shut the opposition shooters down, ending the first quarter only 1 goal down.
The mid courts played extremely well, and we were able to execute on our game plan and structures making it easier to feed the ball into Bridget and Tahni.
