Rutherglen’s Under 14s boys team used one of their nine lives to advance to the preliminary final via second chance after a close loss on the weekend.
The Cats were back at Sandy Creek for the second semi-final against the undefeated Yackandandah in perfect finals football conditions.
The young Cats knew they had a tough task ahead but were primed and up for the challenge.
It was a typical finals contest from start to finish, with the boys showing plenty of determination, effort and most of all teamwork.
Unfortunately, they went down by just three points in a thrilling finish.
It was a valiant effort from the young Cats, and they get another crack this weekend.
While the result didn’t go their way, the boys can hold their heads high; they gave it everything and showed just how much fight and heart this team has.
The club sends a big thankyou to everyone who made the trip to Sandy Creek to cheer on the team; your support was very much appreciated.
Make sure you continue that support again at 9.15am on Saturday, as the Cats take on Thurgoona in the preliminary final for one last shot at the big dance.
