After a strong 2025 campaign that saw them finish third with a 14-4 record, the Power made a shock first round exit from the finals series and was left to lament what could have been.
While the departures of reigning best and fairest Dean Waugh and star midfielder Jimmy Hanrahan left a hole in the middle, the recruitment of Jackson Casey and Matt Douglas from the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League will add strength and depth.
CDHBU Power took on the Rennie Hoppers in a display of true sportsmanship for the annual Peter Murphy Cup on March 28 at Rennie Rec Reserve.

Co-coaches Kyle Docherty and George Sandral expect Casey to provide grunt in the midfield, with Douglas providing strength in the air down back, while returning youngster Jay Lavis promises future optimism.
A variety of practice matches across all grades on March 13 and 28 underscored their preparations for this season, ensuring they are finely tuned for round one.
The Under 17’s had a strong game against Mulwala, with the likes of L. Phibbs, T. Hanrahan, H. Kuschert, J. Torney, and E. Sorenson stepping up for a solid 91 – 73 victory on March 13.
A red-hot Under 14’s Rennie side had a comfortable win against the Power team on March 28.
The Hoppers showed that they will be in for a big season while the young Power team showed they will be a competitive side this year.
On the same day CDHBU Seniors had a dominant win over the Hoppers, recording 34-17-231 to 2-5-17 to retain the Peter Murphy Cup.
Teams are now ready to kick off the Hume Football Netball League 2026 season, with round one away to Lockhart on April 11.
