The event holds great significance as it not only supports a worthy cause but also honours the memory of Julie Bartlett, a CR United club stalwart and beloved member of the local community, who passed away earlier this year following long and difficult cancer journey.
The day’s festivities will kick off with the Hockey Albury Wodonga Under 7/10’s Carnival, commencing at 9:30 am, followed by five home games. With CR United dominating the Albury Wodonga Hockey scene, the day’s matches are sure to be a thriller.
A range of family-friendly activities will be available to entertain individuals and families throughout the day with a jumping castle, face painting, kids’ activities, and more. For those in need of refreshments, a coffee van will be on-site, and the canteen will be open.
Following the matches, a social event will be held in the club rooms, with a disco for the kids, and a silent auction held. The evening will provide an opportunity for players, families, and supporters to come together, share stories, and celebrate the success of the day.
Saturday’s club day will honour the memory of beloved community member Julie Bartlett.
In conjunction with the day, CR United’s Liam Nelson is also gearing up for a selfless act to raise funds for the AWRCC, shaving his head and donating his hair to the Kids With Cancer Foundation, where it will be used to create wigs for children battling cancer.
Sharon Willman, sister of the late Julie Bartlett, has been instrumental in organising the day and said it’s heart-warming to see the community behind such an important cause.
“We’ve had fantastic community support for prizes and donations,” Sharon told the Free Press.
“The response from the community has been incredible. Corowa is great like that. Doesn’t matter if it’s the Royal Children’s Hospital or a family in need, people are willing to dig deep.

“It’s going to be a really great day for everyone. We’ve got our fingers crossed for the weather too.”
For over 10 years, Sharon along with her sister have had a strong relationship with club, serving on the committee (Julie as president in 2015/16) while their children were playing at the club. To find outmore about the day visit the CR United Hockey Club Facebook page.
