With scores locked together or so close throughout the preliminary final, Corowa A Grade team finally went down to Wodonga Raiders by the barest of margins last Sunday, 35-34.

The Roos came out firing - fearless, connected and full of trust in one another - leading eight goals to two in the first seven minutes before the Raiders settled into the game to trail by two at quarter time.

It was a strong defensive game from both teams, resulting in many turnovers and a low-scoring second quarter to trail by two at halftime.

The game was far from over, the Roos regrouped, applying defensive pressure across the court creating seven turnovers in the third quarter to level the scores at three-quarter time.
The incredible Corowa crowd was felt by the girls, who continued to push through the fatigue for a thrilling finish.
Unfortunately, the Roos were down by one when the final buzzer sounded, missing out on playing into overtime by seconds.
Not even in the competition last year, the club is so incredibly proud of coach Sophie Hanrahan, invaluable club people who work tirelessly behind the scenes, the netball girls and an incredibly supportive crowd and community. The girls felt the love and support.

Club secretary/treasurer Rowena Black said the strong showing for season 2024 was well deserved recognition for Sophie, Sally and the team.
“They’ve lifted our spirits and we’re on the way, getting us back to where we hope to be, playing finals and going as far as we can,” she said.
“The team has been well led and been so positive. We can certainly look forward to the future.”
