The Corowa rowers teamed up with Simon McFarlane, Alex Conway and Julie Underwood, who competed in composite crews with rowers from Melbourne Clubs.
Day one on Saturday featured Alex Conway in the first heat, who needed a top four finish to proceed through to the final.
Alex lined up against seven scullers and in a controlled race, finished in the all-important fourth place, to progress into the final.
Against a quality field, Alex put in a strong performance to finish in eighth place.
Simon McFarlane teamed up with three crewmates from Yarrawonga in the E class quadruple scull.
With a full field across the course, the composite crew put in a solid performance to win bronze medals.
The new combination of Nick Wragge and Jim Moll got back into rowing and were entered in the C and E class double scull.
The crew in their first competition together, did a fantastic job to finish in fourth and seventh place in the finals.
A fantastic way for two mates to compete together at the State Championships.
Julie Underwood had a tough final in the E class single against a rower who she had not defeated before.
Julie had taken the lead early and waited for the rest of the field to make their move.
She put in a great final 200m to hold on to win gold.
The club entered a crew of Alex Conway, Susan Scott, Liz Sandow and Tamasin Burch in the C class quadruple.
The Corowa crew rowed a great race to finish seventh place.
The Mixed D quadruple race featured Alex Schultz, Nick, Susie and Liz.
The crew continued the clubs’ strong performance, to finish in seventh place.
The final race on day one featured Julie in a composite E class quadruple scull, with rowers from Ballarat and Albert Park.
Against a strong field, the composite crew pushed the state crew all the way to claim silver.
Day two
Simon and Alex Conway were the two club representatives on Sunday.
Simon teamed up with his Yarrawonga crew mate, in the D class double scull.
The new combination finished strongly to claim the silver medal.
Simon and Alex teamed up in the Mixed C class, double scull.
This event was very competitive as state representatives had entered.
After an even start, the favourites had taken the lead which left the battle for silver and bronze.
The pace picked up with 200m to go as little separated second to fourth.
The Corowa crew narrowly missed out on another medal.
Simons next race was in a sweep, where he had finished in fifth place.
The clubs last race was the female A and B class double scull.
Alex teamed up with Ainsley Raggett from Banks.
In the youngest class, the crew showed great experience to win a silver medal.
A fantastic result by the club to win one gold, three silver and one bronze medal.
The club will now focus on Sunday morning rows from 9.00am and gym/ergometer training on Monday and Wednesdays from 4.30pm
