Corowa Rowing Club made the trip down to Melbourne to compete on the Maribyrnong River at the Footscray and Essendon regattas.

The regattas were a great lead into the National Championships held in Nagambie this week.
Ideal conditions greeted the rowers at the Footscray regatta with the Melbourne skyline as the backdrop.
The club’s Female and Male U17 scullers dominated in their events with Eva Broad, Sommers Hogan, Anastasia McFarlane, Adelaide Robb, and Cox Will Hogan taking the win while our Male crew Erik Hogan, Spencer Holland, Brodie Julian, Lachie Hogan, and Cox Will Hogan took out their heat and won their final featuring three crews.
Adelaide won the single scull events while Spencer took out the male single.
Sommers Hogan rowed well in her heat to progress into the final and in a tight battle down the course finished in second place.
The mother daughter combination, Liz and Eva teamed up in the C grade double scull winning the heat and recording a strong row in the final to finish in second place.
Lachie and Anastasia raced strongly in the heat of the mixed double scull recording a win.
With three crews in the final, the young Corowa combination rowed a great race to row down the early leader and claim the win.
Anastasia and Sommers took on the B grade double scull event winning the heat and in a tight battle against the Latrobe Uni crew the Corowa girls claimed a great win.
The girls stepped up in the A grade double scull taking on the Ryton College senior crews. The Corowa girls continued their great form to row a great race and finish in third place.
Lachie Hogan raced in the B grade single scull with a win in the heat moved through to the final to finish in second place.
In preparation for the National Champs the Male U17 quad raced in the B grade quad scull. Against older opposition the boys raced well over the 800m course to finish in second place.
Day 2 Essendon 350m
With an early start to the morning, Corowa Rowing Club took on the shorter course at Essendon.
Up first for the day was the C grade doubles with Tam and Liz placing second in their heat and Eva and Imogen coming first in theirs, making it to the finals and finishing second.
Sommers turned the tables after yesterday’s rowing taking out first in the under 15 single scull.
The two Corowa mixed double crews consisting of Tam and Alex and then Clancy and Lachie both won their heats they raced a remarkably close final against each other with the latter bring home the win.
The Under 17 quad with Erik, Spencer, Brodie, Lachie, and cox Will smashed out a great race taking home a gold medal. Later in the day they finished second in the Male B grade quad final.
Eva won her under 17 single in an exciting race.
Brodie has recently moved into the B grade and came third in his single over the sprint distance.
Spencer had success in his under 17 single, coming first in the heat and the final.
Liz and Imogen raced their single sculls in the C grade, both coming first in their heats and second and third in the final.
The mixed quad consisting of Tam, Eva, Alex, Liam, and Cox Maddy Ryan came second in their heat.
The three crew Female C grade final consisting of Corowa crew Tam, Imogen, Clancy, Liz, and Cox Maddy in a close race finished in second position.
Sommers keeps challenging herself every week and stepped up to row the B grade single. In a fast race Sommers lead all the way to win the heat and continue into the final making a close second.
After an exciting two days of racing the Corowa crews and families made the trip up the freeway stopping at Nagambie for the National Championships for a week of racing against the country’s best U 17 scullers.
