The A2 side played YMGCR at home in a twilight match on Friday, November 25. It was a tight contest, but YMGCR came out on top by 3 shots, 71 to 68. Jim Walkers’s team got up by 10 shots, 22 to 12 but couldn’t cover the other 3 rinks. Jordan Thornton went down 16 to 18, Raz Porter lost 14 to 21 and Troy Brockley went down 16 to 20.
The A4 side travelled to Wodonga and had a good win, 89 to 72. Roly Nixon came up against a tough opposition and went down 10 to 29. The other 3 rinks were able to cover this: Dave Lewis won 27 to 7, Norm Carmody won 29 to 17 and Barry Warburton won 23 to 19.
The B2 side played Yarrawonga at home and had a narrow loss, 53 to 61. Peter Mills had a 20 all draw, Jeff Nixon lost 19 to 20 and Frank Gee lost 14 to 21.
Club Singles
In the Men’s competition Allen Bartlett earnt a spot in the semi final by defeating Peter Mills, 25 to 15. Peter Summerill is also in the semi finals by defeating Jordan Thornton in a tight match, 25 to 22. Tony Fierenzi defeated Jeff Nixon 25 to 14 and now plays Rod Garthwaite for the third semi spot. Tony Coughlin and Raz Porter play for the final semi spot.
In the lady’s competition Judy Black won the right to play in the grand final by defeating Julie Holmquest 25 to 18. The other semi is between Maree Jones and Anne Summerill.
Barefoot Bowls
Barefoot bowls is available on Thursday evenings, this Thursday a BBQ is available, but the club need to have names in for catering purposes please. Wednesday mornings are offered for anyone to come for roll ups, equipment will be supplied.
Social Groups
This Saturday the club welcome two groups for barefoot bowls social events. Bowls is a great fun event for your group.
