The Ovens and Murray Novice Singles were held at Corowa Civic Bowls Club on Sunday, January 14 and four newer bowlers, Jenny Lawrence, Kellie-Anne Briggs, Darryl Brown and Adam Larkins entered the event.
Jenny and Kelli-Anne both won their first round, coming from behind in long games. In the second round, Kellie-Anne played well but was outclassed by her opponent. Jenny also played well, once again coming from behind, but went down 16 to 21.
Adam and Darryl both had first-round byes, then they comfortably won their second-round games. Darryl was outclassed by a better opponent in his third-round match and went down. Adam fought back after being down in his game but was narrowly defeated, 21 to 20.
All four players played good bowls and were great ambassadors for the club.
Club Championships
The Men’s Singles final will be played between Ken Widdison and Andy Dickins tomorrow, Thursday, January 18 at 4 pm.
Social Bowls
On Wednesday, January 3, 8 bowlers played pairs. The winners were Adam Larkins and Tony Coughlin.
On Wednesday, January 10- 12 bowlers played pairs. The winners were Jenny Petrie and Ken Mollinson. Runners-up were Tim Buggy and Raz Porter.
Pennant
The B3 team played Beechworth last Saturday but the game had to be abandoned due to heat before a result could be reached. All teams resume after the Christmas break this Saturday, January 20.
