Winter arrived for the Under 12 match in Wodonga on Sunday morning. However, the cold drizzle did little to dampen the spirits of the young Roos in the face of an important match against Wodonga White.
The difficult conditions seemed to matter little as the boys romped forward from the opening bounce, hitting the scoreboard through Cooper Gerhard, Jai Richey, and Josh Parker to rush to a significant lead at the end of the first quarter.
The boys were up for the match and continued to move the ball through slick hands into the forward line in the second term.
Abe and Ollie started to make their mark on the game and Jake Witherden was scrapping well behind the ball. Another three goals in the second term had the boys up by 39-points at halftime.
The second half saw a bit more push from the Wodonga boys.
The young Roos stood up, especially at the back where Nate and Ashton repelled the Bulldogs' offense, feeding the ball back into the centre.
Jagger Doody was holding space and Blair seemed to be everywhere, attacking the ball on the ground with confidence.
Eli Hales started to make his mark on the game, punctuated by a boundary line snap for an impressive goal, the only score of the third term.
The conditions started to take their toll in the last quarter, but some strong defensive pressure from Fin Douglas and Jackson Barber, alongside excellent ruck work from Darcy Upton, meant that the ball was still moving forward.
Two goals to Wodonga were answered by one from Leo Davis to close out what was an excellent match by this very impressive group of boys.
Final scores Corowa (8.3.51) def. Wodonga White (2.0.12)

Under 14s
A wet day faced the boys as they made their way into Albury to face the winless St Pats. This loomed as a danger game for the Roos after dropping their last game. Would the boys turn up with the intensity required?
That question was answered very quickly with the ball bouncing around in our forward half for most of the first quarter with the Roos holding a 25-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The ball was greasy from the rain which was making it hard to hold marks however Toby Hanrahan and Franklin Murray-Wright were able to hold onto some good marks around the ground and importantly in the forward fifty to give the Roos some set shots at goal.
After another dominant quarter the Roos increased their lead to 36 points after St Pats were able to impact the scoreboard. The coach asked for more of the same at half time with the intensity around the ball high and all players contributing.
The sun finally came out in the third quarter for a brief showing. The sun was definitely shining for the Corowa boys as they piled on 5 goals to have a 10-goal margin by 3 quarter time.
The rain made another showing in the last quarter however it didn’t dampen the Roos spirits running away with an 81-12 win.
