Among the standout competitors was newcomer Levi Wright, who made a stunning debut in just his second meet since joining the sport.
Competing in the 10 and Under 25m events, Levi dominated the breaststroke and butterfly, placing 1st in both, and secured 2nd place in freestyle, just behind teammate Ollie Talbot, making it a Corowa Sharks one-two finish.
Levi also attempted all four strokes across the 25m events and bravely took on the 50m freestyle and breaststroke, showing early signs of grit and determination that mark a promising future in the pool.
Judd Talbot continued his strong run of form in both his 10 and Under and 12 and Under events.
Judd placed 3rd in the 25m butterfly and 25m breaststroke, while taking out 1st place in both the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, underlining his dominance across multiple strokes and distances.
In the senior boys' events, Marshall Lees, despite battling illness, showed resilience to claim 3rd in the 13 and Over 100m breaststroke, while Ethan Marks put in a solid swim to place 3rd in the 100m backstroke in the same age category.
Their efforts reflect the determination and consistency that has been on display from the Sharks throughout the winter short course season.
Congratulations also go to the club’s wider team of winter swimmers – Lucas Bellette, Austin Lees, Samuel Bellette, Ethan Marks, Marshall Lees, Judd Talbot, Ollie Talbot and Levi Wright – all of whom have shown strong development, sportsmanship and team spirit across the winter season.
A special mention goes to Travis Wright, Levi’s younger brother, who made his competition debut in Wangaratta on Sunday, June 29.
Travis took on the challenge with enthusiasm and confidence, adding another exciting prospect to the Sharks’ future talent pool.
Well done to all swimmers and families for their efforts and support during the winter campaign.
The Corowa Sharks are now looking ahead to the Ovens & Murray District Winter Short Course Championships to be held in Wangaratta on Sunday, July 27.
The club is proud of the dedication and commitment shown across the board this season – and the future is certainly looking bright for the Sharks.
