In a thrilling encounter, the Murray Cup side narrowly went down 26-22 to Woodbridge Cup Under 20s development squad, the match marking an important milestone as the first representative opportunity for league tag players in the 2025 season.
Cougars coaches Tash and Brenden Johnson, who are steering the combined squad throughout the representative calendar, were pleased with the team's performance.
"We're focusing on building a positive culture and valuable representative experience for all the girls this year," both coaches said.
"We want to foster camaraderie and skill development across our entire competition.
“Saturday's match was a really great start - there’s great potential in this squad."

The Cougars had impressive representation in Boorowa, with players making significant contributions across the field.
Tash Johnson not only coached but played in the halves and briefly at hooker, showcasing a strong kicking game while working tirelessly in middle defence.
Bridgette Lee was rock-solid at fullback, providing confident direction while making several try-saving defensive tags.
Speedster Leesa Hawking proved unstoppable on the wing, racing away for a spectacular 65-metre try that left the opposition in her wake.
Kenz Winnell demonstrated individual brilliance coming off the bench, scoring a try after chasing down her own chip kick through the defensive line.
Georgia Farrington made an impact off the bench with strong carries and determined defence, constantly seeking involvement.
The Cougars' presence extended beyond the playing field, with Brenden Johnson providing invaluable guidance as assistant coach and sports trainer. Chevy Parker travelled as the women's reserve and served alongside Karvan Silva as a league-safe trainer.
Following a bye week in the regular competition, the women’s league tag team return this Sunday, May 25, taking on CSU Muddogs in Glenrowan. The men will enjoy another bye weekend.
