This week, the ‘Cutters take on Berrigan, who hid a tighter three-point win against Rennie.
‘Cutters head coach Tim McCormick has said two wins in two weeks has his side prepared for the next few rounds.
“We’ve built a bit of confidence and we’ve had a look at the fixture, and our next four games are against teams around the same ladder position as us.
“It is an exciting month coming up.”
After Berrigan this week, Mathoura take on Tocumwal, Blighty and then Rennie.
So far, the theme for the Timbercutters’ season has been starting games well, which McCormick said was handled well on Saturday.
“We started well against Rovers, and we will look to continue to do that again this week.
“When we didn’t do that against sides higher than us on the ladder, we got punished.”
McCormick is expecting a fairly even contest against Berrigan, which he said is a similarly placed side to themselves.
“Berrigan on their own ground will be a challenge, and they’ll also be confident coming off a win, so I think it is shaping up to be a close game.“
McCormick said the contest in the centre of the ground would be the most important factor.
“The midfield will be key for the game this weekend.
“Whoever can give their forward line clean entry will help win the game and will help get on top early.”
McCormick highlighted two of the Cutters’ big men as key to success against the Saints.
“We will be looking towards David Hand, one of our good new recruits, and Kyle Magro to give our onballers first use of the football.”
