The Cutters’ seniors head coach Tim McCormick said while Yarroweyah is so far winless, Mathoura understands how it doesn’t take much change for a team to be competitive.
“They’re struggling a bit like we were a few years ago,” McCormick said.
“I hope we’ll win well and get the job done, but it’ll come down to our mindset.
“It will be a good test if we’re switched on. If not, it’ll be a dour struggle.
“Our concentration levels are important.
“A couple of years ago, we were in a lot of games against better sides due to positive, contested, man-on-man play. If they bring that, hopefully we will counter it well.”
McCormick said the ‘Cutters still have some injury concerns from their last match against Katunga, but expect to have at least three ins this week.
“There may be another out with Andrew Evans, who suffered a shin injury in the Katunga game, so we are waiting on his fitness.
“Our captain Sam McHale is back this week after his family commitments saw him out against Katunga.
“There could be at least three players back into the senior team, but we are waiting on the fitness of a couple of others.”
Mathoura will host this week’s match, and next week’s local derby against the Deni Rovers.
“Two home games over the next couple of weeks will be good for the club, and will hopefully get us back on track for the season.”
