Despite putting up a fight, the Deniliquin Bowling Club could not hold on for the flag in the Campaspe Playing Area Weekend Division 5 grand final on Saturday.

Deniliquin Blue were defeated by the Moama Steamers, who had the home greens advantage.
The club will get its chance to turn the tables today, when Deniliquin’s Division 3 Midweek Pennant side plays against Moama in the Capaspe Playing Area Midweek grand final in Echuca.
Games will be played at Rich River from 10am.
Team one for Deni is Noel Murray, Ken Salter, Wayne Bradley and Bruce Clancy (skip).
Team two is Jenny Tonta, Cheryl Bradley, Ian Chessells and John Murray (skip).
In other divisions, Moama and Echuca will face off in Div 1, Kyabram and Moama in Div 2 and Lockington and Moama Green in Div 4.
For Deniliquin Blue in the Weekend Pennant grand final on Saturday, the first rink was a close one.
Robyn Little, Ken Bowden, Colin Knuckey and Linda Harris went close but were narrowly defeated by their Moama counterparts Lyn Snell, Ian Hamill, Laurie Quinton and Mark Daly, 20 to 22.
Noel Murray, Tony King, Ian Chessells and John Murray also put in a valiant effort, but went down to Moama’s Brian Hester, Stuart Sutton, Geoff Reed and Walter Wadge, 14 to 20.
Overall the Deniliquin side were defeated by eight shots 34 to 42.
“Deniliquin Blue should be proud of their season, earning their place in the grand final after a strong finals campaign,” a Deniliquin Bowling Club spokesperson said.
“The club thanks Dyson’s Bus Company for their continued support and sponsorship of transport to finals games this season.”
