Congratulations to Lisa French who played her 200th O&M game.
The girls were looking good on court in the club’s new dresses. An even start meant the Roos had to grind away but eight extra goals than the Saints put the team in good stead for the rest of the game.
Myrtleford kept chipping away but the Roos maintained strong defensive pressure across the court and created heaps of opportunities to attack down court. Go Roos.
Emily Laracy (Player’s Player) – Leaps Larry who played four quarters in WingDing and absolutely blitzed it.
Roos’ A Grade attack: Gabe McRae, Indy Frauenfelder, Leah Keating and Lou Madden.
Sophie Hanrahan intercepts beautifully.
Larry’s long limbs won heaps of ball and mix that with excellent drive and spatial awareness down court — she killed it.
Indianna Frauenfelder (Coach’s Award and MVP) – went to our reliable, zippy GA who the coach was very happy to have back in the side this week, Phantom. She shot with confidence and took on instruction, burnt her player with pace and stayed strong through some big knocks.
Gabe Mcrae (Ladies Committee) – well done Steve. Gabe ran out the four quarters in centre with great passing to transition the ball from defence to the attack end.
B Grade
Roos 55 defeated Myrtleford 26
B Grade’s Remy Longmire passes to Kelsy Bullivant.
The B Grade Roos were keen to get a win to help Lisa French (GS) celebrate her 200th Senior O&M game. The final result went Corowa’s way with another fantastic win.
An outstanding team performance by all Roo girls in the B Grade squad.
Lisa French (Club 1) – had a fantastic game in GS - scoring 43 of the 55 goals.
Tori Sampson (Essential Beauty) – worked tirelessly in WA driving the ball to circle edge and finding great connection to Lisa.
Courtney Haigh (Ladies Committee) – continued on her consistent defence in GK picking up a huge amount of ball and giving the team multiple opportunities to get a score.
B Grade’s Tori Sampson to Kiara Corkett.
Courtney Haigh marks strongly in B Grade.
Kiara Corkett (MVP) – had a strong performance in GA.
C Grade
Roos 29 lost to Myrtleford 51
The C Grade team were missing a number of their players on Saturday with injuries and needed to call on a few players from other grades to help out.
Coming out strongly the girls matched the strong and experienced team from Saints.
Unfortunately, without a number of key players, the girls struggled to maintain their structures and they were outplayed by the experience of the opposition.
However, they did not drop their heads and continued to back each other up the whole game adjusting to different players. Thanks to Jade and the under 17s who helped out, Bree, Sommers and Keeley.
Sophie Kennedy (Club 1) – played a captain’s game leading on court and giving so much drive in the attack end.
Lily Kennedy (Thrive Wellness) – strong defensive game. Turning the ball over and rebounding, working well with Jade, Sommers and Bree.
Jade Lane (Ladies Committee and MVP) – consistent defensive game and jumping into centre position as well, Jade was versatile and turned the ball over many times.
17 & Under
Roos 33 lost to Myrtleford 43
Another close game for the girls. The team is sticking to their game structures which should start to pay off and get them more wins throughout the season.
Mia Elliot (Origin Clothing) – solid game in defence especially rebounding the ball.
Rahni Dickins (The Hire Room) – had a physical game with hitting the deck a couple of times but kept her composure to transition the ball from defence end to the goalers.
Grace Milthorpe (Ladies Committee) – had a good day in the goal circle with 20 goals from 25 attempts.
Sommers Hogan (MVP) – worked well in defence with Mia.
15 & Under
Roos 26 lost to Myrtleford 61
The Under-15s showed great determination in a tough match. A solid team effort with plenty to build on.
Isabel Bruce (Docs) – her definite drive and reliable backing up through the midcourt.
Kaity Ford (Sportspower) – stood out for her determination to contest every ball and her vocal presence.
Millie Eales (Ladies Committee and MVP) impressed with strong takes and sharp speed off the line.
This week see the girls will be at home taking on the Bulldogs. Good luck to all grades.
