Under 14s
The girls worked hard all match showing great determination against a formidable opponent.
This team is all about participation and encouraging each other. The highlight being Taylor Taborsky taking her first mark much to great applause from her teammates.
Carrington Schmidt, Angela Skipper and Abbey Ibrahim each had a turn rotating through the ruck and enjoying the experience.
Alexia Nagle was a star of the back line, with some strong marks and play and booming kicks to clear the ball.
Violet Fisher played another strong game and stopped many goals.
Marlie Smith was in her best form with some big tackles and a great ability to clear the ball out of the pack.
Another highlight of the day was Maya’s outstanding run from the back line and booting the ball deep to the goals. Unfortunately, the ball fall short of the goals and the bulldogs were able to clear the ball

Under 17s
With school holidays, injuries, and other ailments, the Under 17 team was reduced down to a core group of 14 players. However, with both teams fielding 14 players, the match was a great exhibition of female football. The ball moved freely across the ground and all players were able to get involved.
Up forward, Ali Jackson was in scintillating form dodging and weaving her way through packs to kick 7 majors. In the last quarter, she even surprised everyone to show that she does have a right foot!
Millie Cheeseman continues to improve and also got amongst the goals. Matilda took a number of good marks with her unorthodox but effective style.
Her sister, Olivia was also dominant in the midfield and while it is too early to call the sister relationship on the field, it was remarkable the number of times they kicked the ball to each other. All to good effect!
In the midfield, both Emily Cooper and Madison Ibrahim had great games and provided plenty of drive. Madison being able to kick three goals running through the 50m line.
With the dominant performance of the Felines, the coach Brad Nicholson made the changes by spinning his magnetic board around numerous times to make sure that all the girls got involved in the match.
Sophie Kelly and Josephine Muscat didn’t disappoint kicking their first goals of the season.
Josephine Muscat was so keen to get amongst the goals, that in the last quarter she dodged an opponent, ran to the next contest, worked her way through that skirmish, bustled her way through the next contest and was beginning to lick her lips as she was lining up the goals, just when the umpire told her “I think that you have forgotten to bounce the ball!”
Issy Bush enjoyed her chance in the midfield, with some strong play and taking a number of great marks that she never looked like missing.
All in all, it was a great win against an improving Bulldogs team that never stopped trying all day. The Bulldogs have a large proportion of their players as bottom age and over the next two years they will improve out of sight.
Felines 16.12-108 defeated Wodonga Bulldogs.
Goals: Ali Jackson 7, Madison Ibrahim 3, Sophie Kelly 2, Matilda Cheeseman 2, Josephine Muscat, Emily Cooper,
Best Players: Madison Ibrahim, Ali Jackson, Josephine Muscat, Emily Cooper, Isabel Bush, Olivia Cheeseman.
It was great to see the Indigo Shire Councillors, Cr Sophie Price, and Mayor Bernard Gaffney at the game. They enjoyed their time watching the skills and friendly enthusiasm of the girls as they played football. We look forward to their support to develop some much-needed infrastructure at Barkly Park to support and encourage female participation.
