GMC, Williams crush MVCA in rep fixture

Along with regular McMahon Shield round action, Goulburn Murray Cricket’s best took on the Murray Valley Cricket Association in a rep fixture on Sunday at Moama Recreation Reserve.

Local talents had their fingerprints all over the game, and the match’s star performer was Rochester talisman Sean Williams, who made 129 from 125 deliveries for GMC.

Echuca South’s Asantha Singappuli also impressed, making 61 as GMC accumulated 7-304 from its 50 overs.

Bamawm-Lockington United captain Regis Chakabva started the innings on the front foot with 28 from 13 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes.

When it came time for the MVCA chase, a who’s who of GMC bowlers tore apart the rival association.

Rochester captain Angus Martin took 2-25, removing both MVCA openers, while Moama’s Anthony McMahon had best figures with 4-11 from six overs.

MVCA was dismissed for just 87 runs in a big win for the GMC all-stars.
