This year’s annual tournament will be played over three days from May 30 to June 1 and will coincide with the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the golf club in the town.
The original golf course formed in 1900 was situated at Quarry Hill, where the Rutherglen High School currently stands and by 1926 had moved to today’s location closer to the town’s Main St.
Over the years many great golfers have started their careers in Rutherglen, including Victorian Golf Hall of Famer Louise Briers and former Amateur Champion John Lindsay.
Membership is now the highest it has ever been with a big focus on junior development and increasing female participation in golf.
