Hosting Moyhu, who have been recording some great results and looking like a real contender, the whole Goorambat team was ready to make a statement, especially on a weekend on a massive celebration with the reunion and past players day.
Ending up 20 points down in the first, we were able to bring ourselves right back into the contest with Brayden Wapling having a huge second quarter and leading from the front.
Ultimately though it was a disappointing but yet very positive result knowing we can really have a crack against top competition. Looking ahead now to the next couple of weeks, and hopefully we will be in a position to get a stronger side together after the long break.

After a competitive first three quarters, Goorambat showed plenty of determination against Moyhu before Moyhu pulled away late to secure a 43-28 victory. Goorambat matched it with the opposition for much of the contest, working hard through the midcourt and creating strong passages of play.
Best on court for Goorambat was Fiona Doig, whose endless intercepts and defensive pressure kept her side in the game throughout the day. Abby Hammond earned second best honours with outstanding leads and tireless work rate in attack, continually creating options down the court.
Third best went to Kate Nolan for her strong communication, leadership on court and accurate shooting effort under pressure.
Despite the result, Goorambat can take plenty of positives from the performance after sticking with Moyhu for the majority of the match.

Past players reunion
The action continued following Goorambat’s senior football contest, too, with past players and club legends returning to reminisce and trade memories of past playing days.
Former Footscray VFL champion Doug Hawkins was the guest speaker on the night, proving a hit with the strong crowd that stayed on, while the 2006 Benalla and District League senior football and B grade netball sides celebrated 20 year premiership reunions.
