Hosier’s big plans for second stint

Back at the helm. Graham Hosier with the 2022 Ovens and Murray Volunteer of the Year award.

Securing a senior football coach, getting back into the clubrooms and on to the oval are foremost in the mind of new Corowa Rutherglen Football Netball Club President Graham Hosier.

It will be the second stint as president for the 66-year-old who was elected unopposed at the club’s AGM last Wednesday, November 30.

“I’ve got confidence in our football department to get someone as coach – they’re working very hard,” Mr Hosier told The Free Press.

“We nearly had one. We’ve got a few irons in the fire so hopefully we’ll have our coach very soon.”

With the flood waters, the club is looking at a substantial damage bill. “The Joss Group sent down some assessors and advised us of $221,000 damage,” the president said. “We are looking at grants to assist with the total cost.

“With our kitchen it will probably be a complete rebuild. Council is doing a wonderful job with the oval. A new reticulation system is going in and we hope to be back on the oval by January.”

Semi-retired plumber owner/operator Mr Hosier has served 13 years on the Roos committee, as committeeman, three years as vice president, seven as president and committeeman the last two years.

President for the last two years was Stuart Lingham. “We would particularly like to acknowledge the outgoing President Stuart Lingham for his role during the last two years as well as Olivia Sinclair and Alex Finlayson,” the new, re-elected president said.

“We thank them for their contribution and commitment to the club over the last few years.

“We would like to congratulate our incoming board and look forward to a new season ahead.”

Mr Craig Spencer remains as vice president. The secretary/treasurer’s position will be undertaken again by Rowena Black.

Returning board members are Robyn Schilg, Paul Schnelle and Roger Bradtke. New board members are Emma Forrest and Jason Marks.
