With 67 players from across Victoria and NSW confirmed to be playing across tomorrow and Saturday, the event has exceeded expectations and promises to deliver a thrilling spectacle of speed, strategy, and sportsmanship.
The veteran competitors will battle it out across singles, gender doubles, mixed doubles, and graded division matches, showcasing the depth and diversity of talent converging on Deniliquin from across the country.
The tournament will kick off Saturday morning with a special Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, following opening remarks from Mayor Ashley Hall.
Among the entrants is Table Tennis Victoria chair Raj Datta, whose participation adds prestige to the event and reflects the growing recognition of Deniliquin’s vibrant table tennis scene.
Club founder Judy James expressed her excitement, noting that the tournament marks a turning point for the club and the wider region.
“It’s great. I’m hoping it gets table tennis more on the map, it would be good to expand the club and get some more funding,” James said.
Locals are encouraged to attend and cheer on Deniliquin’s own players as they take on some of the best in the country.
Admission is free, making it a perfect outing for families and sports fans alike.
With table tennis gaining momentum across the region, this weekend’s tournament is more than just a competition.
