Corowa and District Netball Association are excited to be able to host a Junior netball clinic for ages 10 to 17 this holiday period.
Local superstars Mia Lavis and Sophie Hanrahan will be running the clinics on Tuesday, September 30 at John Foord Oval with young netball lovers encouraged to come along.
“We are so lucky to have two of the highest profile playing netballers to run our clinics who come from our local area,” Corowa and District Netball Association president Tegan Hicks said.
“It’s a great opportunity for developing junior netballers to gain some new skills and have some fun.”
Both Mia and Sophie are coming off a year of continued success and have plenty of knowledge to share.
Roos ace Sophie Hanrahan will pass on some of her extensive netball knowledge.
Mia hails from Howlong, and has been a mainstay of Victorian state teams, national pathway squads and the Victorian Fury and Vixens Academy programs in recent years. She was also part of the Wodonga Raiders inaugural O&M premiership winning A Grade team this year.
Sophie grew up on a farm at Coreen and now lives in the Corowa Rutherglen area, playing in the VNL for the last four years and being part of the City West Falcons premiership team the last three.
She also has been a dominant player in the Ovens and Murray league playing for the Roos A grade and winning the Toni Wilson medal a record equalling four times.
She has also had a number of years of coaching experience.
“CADNA is looking to provide local young netballers the chance to develop and be exposed to some quality coaching right at their doorstep,” Ms Hicks said.
“With our trials a few weeks away, we are keen to continue to be a local association that provides opportunities for budding netballers skill development through clinics, rep carnivals and local competitions.”
Locals aged 10 to 17 are urged to come along to the junior netball clinics this holiday period.
The clinic will be in three different age appropriate groups. One and a half hour sessions will be provided kicking off at 9:30 am, with some healthy snacks at the end.
