Love All, Serve Up a Cure: Tennis comp raised $3000

Kate, Sean, Hugh and Will Bergin were thrilled with the success of Racquets against Breast Cancer which raised $3000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The first ever Racquets Against Breast Cancer Tournament held in Wahgunyah recently has been hailed a great success raising over $3000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event, brainchild of the young and dynamic Hugh Bergin, saw close to 100 people, including 50 participants, come together for a day of fun-filled tennis action.

Ten-year-old Hugh came up with the idea in January this year, stating that he wanted to raise funds for breast cancer, a disease that runs in the family, by organising a tennis tournament. His aspirations to make the world a better place is considered beyond his years.

With the support of his family and local businesses, he was able to turn his vision into a reality.

The event turned out to be a huge success, with participants and attendees alike praising the young organiser's efforts.

Participants were treated to a fantastic day of tennis action, with competitive matches and a great atmosphere all around. The event also had various stalls and activities on offer, including a raffle, a sausage sizzle, and a bake sale. All the proceeds went towards the Breast Cancer charity.

The tournament received overwhelming support from the local community, with many businesses and individuals coming forward to sponsor the event.

Participants were treated to a fantastic day of tennis action which is now set to become an annual event.

Hugh's parents, along with the organizing committee, expressed their gratitude towards all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event a grand success.

With the success of the first-ever Racquets Against Breast Cancer Tournament, it has now been scheduled as an annual event, with the organisers hoping to raise even more funds in the years to come.
