Whilst some stayed overnight on the Friday, most players and supporters made the early morning trip over to Moama to be on time to watch the young stars in the Fourths attempt to win their first Grand Final appearance from the young team in 20 years. Slightly confident going into the game, Coach Ryan Donovan reminded the boys of the hard work and commitment to the playing group they have all possessed during the year and emphasised that this will be the difference on the day.

Although Cobram scored the first goal of the day, Mulwala had been controlling most of the play through the hard running of League Medallist Axel Saunders and the hard at the ball approach of Tyce and Fletcher Woodhead.

All the big guns for Mulwala were firing as Wally Hammon and Hugo Varndell were controlling the defense and Hayden Stephens was gathering possessions at will. Mulwala’s first goal through Vice Captain Henry Donovan set the crowd alight but it was the second quarter goal of crowd favorite Benny Ferguson after a beautiful shimmy that left his opponent wrong footed that sent the strong Mulwala supporter base into a frenzy.

Mulwala had winners all over the ground as the entire team stood up when it was their moment and Cobram had no answers to the level of intensity that Mulwala possessed. After leading at every change and heading into a frantic final quarter Coach Donovan reminded the boys again what this moment would mean to them.

As one team unit, they all rose to the occasion and sniffed out any momentum their opposition tried to attain as they marched on to victory to claim the first premiership of the day.
