The Murray Paddlers, though small in number, delivered big results at the Paddle Victoria School Championships held on Saturday at the Nagambie Regatta Centre.

Five students; Amylee Southwick, Joanne Southwick, Nash Pitcher, Olivia Deglaitis, and Paddy Schwarz, represented the Yarrawonga Mulwala Amateur Canoe Club (YMACC), home schooling, Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga, and Yarrawonga P-12. For some, it was their first competitive experience.
YMACC paddlers won three gold medals and two silver medals at Nagambie.
Despite being newcomers to the championship scene, the team excelled, securing the Small Schools Championship trophy with an impressive haul of three gold medals and two silver medals.
YMACC Coach Tim Roadley was proud of his paddlers’ with the results.
“After 15 years of Yarrawonga students competing against the big metropolitan schools, it’s fantastic to see the kids bring home the Small Schools Championship trophy.
“This achievement reflects not only their hard work but also the dedication of all students and their parents over the years.”
