Corowa started the year with a good win over Wang Hardcourts and moved to the top of the ladder, a position they should hold for most of the season. Hardcourt were behind the 8 ball early losing the first 4 sets to the highly skilled Corowa outfit and tried to play catch up tennis. However once Corowa had a taste of victory, they ensured that Hardcourt would never recover from the early onslaught. Darrell Spencer, Marianne Spencer & Peter Filliponi were outstanding for Corowa while Lynne Shepherd, Di Lucas and Andy Lucas battled hard for Hardcourts. Lawn Blue and Lawn White played a draw with White jumping to an early lead winning the first 3 sets but Blue hit back taking the next 3. It was Emily Brown & Susie Bennett that gave the Blue team the advantage heading into the mixed sets with a faultless display in their set. Andrew Pyta and Wendy Hogan set up a grandstand finish outclassing their opponents. When Blue’s Jono Keys and Susie Bennett won their set, they managed to salvage a draw for the Blue team. Best for Blue - Jono Keys, Emily Brown & Susie Bennett. White were best served by Wendy Hogan, Andrew Pyta and Carolyn Shaw.

Wahgunyah Red have started their new campaign and defence of last year’s flag with a solid win over an ever improving Boorhaman team. Wahgunyah Red appeared to be in total control for most of the day and their result proved exactly that. If Boorhaman had been steadier in a couple of the close sets, they could have come away with a closer result but as all good teams do, they win the tight sets.
Travis McDonald, Jesse Johnstone and Sonia Palmer lead the way for Wahgunyah and Kirsty Tyers, Kane Tyers & Hayley Thomson never stopped trying for Boorhaman. Wahgunyah Blue were not match for the Myrrhee team who will once again figure in the finals come March next year after this display. This was a team effort by Myrrhee although Di Griffin, Dylan Van Berlo and Rob Seymour slightly outshone their team mates.
Olivia Pepper, Mark Webb and Glen Bobbin battled against the odds for Wahgunyah Blue. Rutherglen appear to be the big improvers this year after they dispatched Wang Hardcourt on their home courts. Several new faces for Rutherglen have improved their chances for this season while Hardcourt appear just off the pace unless they can find some consistency. Josh Quick, Helen Fuge and Rachel Crawford were outstanding for Rutherglen
while Marika Van Stekelenberg, Marianna Hines and Lucas Alexander showed there is hope for Hardcourt. Everton Red took the honours against Everton Blue with a consistent performance against their oppponents. Eleisha Kneebone, Jenny Cooper and Russell Bennett were the backbone of the Blue team while Rob Findlay, Ruth Kneebone and Alan Wood are proving to be evergreen for the Red team.

Wahgunyah Gold and Wooragee began the day under dark clouds and it wasn’t long before the heavens opened up and put an end to the day’s proceedings. Wahgunyah Gold took the first 2 sets.
Wahgunyah Red (Andrew Palmer, Kane Palmer, Peter Trebely, Oliver Strove) were too good for Wahgunyah Black (Jake Saville, Brodie Molnar, Corey Hill, Mat Vogel) in trying conditions at the Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve.
Red were in control early and with the more consistent play they managed to hold off the Black team.
