And one makes six, holes-in-one for Corowa’s Peter Tait. As a Corowa member, he now shares the most holes-in-one with Laurie Rinehart.
Some very good golfers go close but have never had a hole-in-one but Corowa’s Peter Tait is a very good golfer who again achieved the feat on Saturday, February 11 with his eight-iron.

His tee shot on the East Course 12th 134 metre Par 3 landed just short of the target. Neither Tait nor his playing partners Peter Reid and Gary Patterson could see the wonderful result from the teestand.
“When we got up to the green they thought my ball was behind the green but I can’t hit an eight-iron that far I told them,” the town’s newsagent Tait explained.
“The boys then believed the ball was in the hole. I’ve had plenty of banter about since, in the newsagency.”
Also on the plentiful side is that Tait, who plays off a six-handicap, has plenty of experience at getting holes-in-one. This was his sixth ace! In so doing, it is believed he and retired Corowa golfer Laurie Rinehart share the record of six overall, with Laurie achieving all of his at Corowa.
Five of Tait’s holes-in-one have been on at Corowa’s championship golf course and his first, in 1984, was at Goulburn. Last Saturday week’s hole-in-one was the second on the East Course 12th, his first being in 2008.

Tait’s latest ace achievement helped to reach 36 stableford points; the hole-in-one made him feel very proud. He acknowledged the greenkeeping team for “doing a fantastic job in getting back 18 holes” after the devastating floods back in November.
“My brother Neville tells people ‘between Peter and me we’ve had six holes-in-one!’,” the 65-year-old experienced holer-in-one said.
Playing partner Peter Reid described the perfect shot. “The ball to me looked like it was never going to miss,” said Reid who achieved his one and only hole-in-one last year.
“There was some thought the ball might have gone through and we thought ‘stiff cheddar’. He’s a good golfer.” Then, with tongue in cheek, added: “He’s the ‘luckiest’ golfer in the club. He’s got six more than his brother!”
