A Grade came out with positivity and strength on the back of their dominating win the week before. The first quarter was close with Albury coming out strongly, particularly in their defence on the goalers.
Both Maddy and Kaleisha responded well and continued to work the ball around the ring and value possession. Kylie Leslie was brilliant in defence and got many intercepts, particularly in the first quarter. Yarrawonga had a slight lead going into the second quarter.
Laura Irvine came on in the second quarter and provided a lot of drive in the middle. Gemma was strong in WD and provided a lot of support to Em Laracy and Annalise. Bridget was strong in goals and Tilly put some great passes into the goalers.
Yarrawonga went from strength to strength and dominated in the second half. Albury had no answers for a confident Yarrawonga side.
B Grade
Yarrawonga 37 defeated Albury 26
Best: Briar Rodaughan, Emily McNamara.
The atmosphere started high with the girls all tanned in preparation for the YFNC Annual Ball, but the vibes would be higher with a few good wins under the belt.
B Grade needed this win - with Albury sitting just below them on the ladder, the points were needed to continue to push into that top five on the ladder. With a few girls still out with injuries and some last-minute sickness, B Grade managed to pull through with a convincing 11-goal win.
Throughout the game there were some beautiful passages of play where the ball just flew down the court, not allowing Albury to get the slightest touch on the ball. Having these passages of play built confidence within the girls on and off the court and showcased the hard work being put in at training.
A scoreline like this is credit to the girls on the court who continued to push out the whole four quarters.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 28 lost to Albury 45
Best: Aleisha Harding, Sophie Wilson.
The girls came into the game on Saturday knowing it was going to be tough, coming up against an undefeated team. The Tigers got an early lead but the margin was maintained for the majority of the game, even coming as close as four goals at one stage in the third quarter.
Aleisha Harding maintained a strong defence for the whole four quarters and Sophie Wilson brought the speed we needed to keep us in the game. In the end Albury played a better game and got away in the last quarter.
The girls are hoping to make the most of the week off with the bye and come back firing on the first of June for another tough match against North Albury.
Under 17s
Yarrawonga 29 lost to Albury 38

A fresh sunny morning at the Albury Tigers ground welcomed our under 17s. Both teams came out strongly in the first quarter with Yarrawonga’s Milla Fletcher running endlessly in defence, taking every intercept she could get her hands on.
Yet we went down by two in the first quarter as well as the second, despite Lucy Judd’s excellent shooting accuracy and holding in the ring.
Emma Thompson embraced her newfound role in goal attack, working seamlessly with Lucy. By the third quarter the Tigers had gotten a jump on us but we kept fighting in the last half with new recruit Kendal Connell getting turnovers throughout the midcourt.
But in the end the Tigers kept their lead and we went down by nine.
Under 15s
Yarrawonga 20 lost to Albury 54
Best: Chloe Liddell; Coaches award: Emily Liddell.
The U15 Pigeons lost against a very strong Albury team, 54-20. Albury jumped out to an early lead, their shooters proving to have quite a height advantage. Our midcourters - Chloe and Emily Liddell - did a great job bringing the ball down the court but we were struggling to convert this into goals.
In the last quarter we switched up some positions and tried Leni in defence where she did a fantastic job.
