“There have been very good numbers at training,” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. “Players are obviously very keen to get back to as fit as possible for 2023. Training’s at a high standard.”
Yarrawonga football fans can get their last glimpse of their players training in 2022 tonight, at J C Lowe Oval, before the Christmas/New Year break.
A free barbecue will be held from 6.00pm to 7.00pm, before the start of the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club’s Annual General Meeting.
Johnson loves the venue of J C Lowe Oval, which is returning quickly to its brilliant best after being scarified.
“It’s a great venue, and Yarrawonga,” he said.
“All is going really well. I’m impressed with the standard of Ovens and Murray football.”
Cameron Wilson joins the Pigeons from Corowa Rutherglen where he won the club’s best and fairest award for the last two seasons.
The Pigeons have recruited well, starting with the senior coach, and their latest recruit, Cameron Wilson from Corowa, who has won that club’s best and fairest award for the last two seasons.
Wilson, 21, will enter his final year of a plumbing apprenticeship in Corowa in 2023. The inside onballer finished fourth in the O and M league’s Morris Medal this year. Reigning Morris Medallist, star Pigeon Leigh Masters, looks very sharp at training.
Son of a gun, Will Robinson, is the son of Yarrawonga’s 1989 premiership player Scott Robinson. Robinson junior is very fit. The talented utility player worked and played in Darwin.
Dylan Walsh-Hall is a ruck/forward from Newcastle and was a junior project player for two years with the Sydney Swans.
Returning to Pigeonland after a stint at Balwyn is forward Matthew Casey who will lend support to powerhouse full-forward Leigh Williams, the O and M League’s leading goalkicker in 2022.
Brodie Rudd is a centre-half-back who played in Cobram’s grand-final team this year.
