CDHBU has continued their undefeated start to the season with a hard-fought 22-point victory over Henty Swampies in the Hume League last weekend.
The game, which took place at home in Coreen, was played in wet and slippery conditions, following an overnight and early morning downpour.
The win marks the Power’s fourth consecutive victory, keeping them level on points with Osborne at the top of the ladder.
The Power were in control of the match for the first three and a half quarters, leading by 40 points at three-quarter time. However, a fast-finishing Henty side refused to give up, kicking 3-2 in the final 15 minutes to push the Power all the way to the final siren.
Rohan Heasley and Nathan Rhodes were both outstanding for the Power, while Ryan Beveridge and CJ Smith each kicked four goals in the victory.
Coach Kyle Docherty praised his side, noting that there were still areas of improvement to work on to match themselves against the better teams.
In addition to their win in the senior’s match, the Power Reserves also had a dominant victory over the Henty Swampies, winning by a whopping 80 points.
The reserves side showed their class throughout the match, with Steven Cordwell booting seven goals and Tom Webb and Kane Mills controlling the backline to keep the Swampies to just two goals for the game.
The victory will give the reserves side a huge confidence boost as they look ahead to their next match, while the seniors will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run when they travel to Urana to face the Murray Magpies this Saturday.
