Rams seniors head coach Ash Morris said last weekend’s performance against Mulwala was disappointing but offered a chance to learn going forward.
“We were frustrated yet optimistic after the Mulwala game, as every area of improvement is in our control.
“We just weren’t unable to execute it on the day, which happens.”
This week’s opponent, Rumbalara, presents a chance for the Rams to get on the winner’s list again.
Rumbalara has struggled to achieve on-field victories in senior football for the past two seasons.
Despite this, Morris said his Rams are prepared for a tougher side this week compared to previous clashes.
Rumba are coming off an 81-point win last week against Echuca United.
“Rumbalara are much improved this year and we will need to play well to win,” Morris said.
“They have had some fantastic first quarters against quality opposition this year, so it is paramount to start well.”
Morris said another challenge is that at least three key players are out for the Rumbalara match.
However, this provides an opportunity for the top-of-the-ladder Rams’ Reserves players to play for the senior team and contribute at the higher level.
“Unfortunately, we suffered a few injuries on the weekend with significant breaks to Marcus Moorse, Will Henderson and Mick Barnett.
“Pleasingly, it is exciting for us to have so many options to choose from given the success of our reserves team.”
