Searching for their second Picola League win of the year this weekend at Blighty Recreation reserve, Redeyes seniors head coach Adrian Timmis said the game against Tocumwal is expected to a good contest.
“I suppose they’re an opportunity for us; they’ve played some better sides than we have to start the season.
“We had a win against Yarroweyah in round one, so this weekend is a 50/50. It’ll be interesting to see.
“You just don’t know how good the side that turns up will be. They’re looking for their first win, and we’re looking for our second.”
Timmis said the Redeyes are showing signs of progress despite the defeat at the hands of a strong Katamatite team.
“They’re a well-drilled side.
“We’re not very far off. We’ve been disciplined, and we’re slowly getting there.
“As a team, we’re working on our defensive game plan that helps us make those one-on-one contests, which is good.”
With both teams hungry for the win, Timmis said Blighty will be looking to inject some quality experience to the side for this week’s home game.
“There’s a new inclusion this week; a new full forward named Tyler. It’s been a waiting game to get him in the team.
“Also, Kai Bloomfield from Melbourne will be back in the side this weekend.”
Coinciding with this weekend’s game is Blighty’s Ladies Day event, which doubles as a fundraiser. Turn to the P.Tee column on page 2 for details.
