After a thumping 65-goal win over Kyabram in round one the Tigers had the opportunity to continue a perfect start against a Mansfield outfit that was humbled at home to Euroa.
Rochester made a solid start, scoring the first four goals of the game, though Mansfield finished the period strongly to trail by one at the end of the first.
The two sides replicated their scores in the second quarter, Rochy netting 12 goals and Mansfield 11, the Tigers taking a 24-22 advantage into the main break.
The visiting Eagles scored the final three goals of the first half and picked up where they left off to start the third, netting five of the first six, which led to a 14-9 advantage over the quarter, Mansfield leading by three heading into the final 15 minutes.
Rochy pushed hard throughout the fourth quarter, but were unable to string a run together, as Mansfield proved a touch better on the day, the Eagles scoring 16 goals in the final period to win 52-45.
Tigers goal shooter Tia Webb was the top scorer with 33, being aided by 12 goals from goal attack Morgan Dingwall.
Up next, Rochester is at home again, facing the red-hot Echuca in a night fixture, with the Murray Bombers eyeing three straight wins to start their campaign.
