The evening, MC’d by former A Grade coach Georgie Bruce, highlighted a season in which numerous players took their game to another level and made significant contributions across both football and netball.
The Senior Football top award, the prestigious Jim Sandral Medal, was presented to Tom Forrest, who was a consistently outstanding performer and a backbone of the Roos’ defence throughout the season.
In A Grade Netball, Mikaela Trethowan claimed the Best and Fairest award following an impressive first season at the club.
Her move from Wangaratta Rovers paid dividends; Mikaela was a strong WD but progressed to ring defense to work with Sophie Hanrahan strongly toward the end of the season
It was a fitting night to celebrate the dedication, development and achievements of the players who helped make 2026 such a memorable season for Corowa Rutherglen.
Also fitting was the presentation of Life Membership to Kiara Corkett, a true stalwart of the Roos community.
With 200 games at the Roos, and 227 games to her name, Kiara has played many roles as coach, captain and wellbeing advocate.
The Mick Houlihan Club Volunteer award was presented to Andrew and Lou Way.
Andrew and Lou arrived at Corowa Rutherglen in 2025 with their daughter Clodagh playing netball, but in 2026 they quickly made a huge impact, always willing to lend a hand and help wherever needed.
The Trevor Kuschert Award was presented to former club president Graham Hosier along with Georgie Bruce, recognising their outstanding contribution to the Roos.
Graham’s contribution continues to be invaluable, from ground marking and managing facilities to organising Thursday night dinners and overseeing the bar.
Georgie Bruce’s legacy at the Roos stretches back many years, with the former A and B Grade coach consistently guiding the netball sides to finals.
