The Roo girls headed to Wangaratta Magpies last Thursday night for their round 9 games.

With the league raising money for ‘Terry Socks it to Cancer’, the girls all wore yellow socks to support raising money for Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.
There is no game this weekend with a split round. The girls will be back at John Foord Oval on Saturday, June 24.
C Grade
Roos 34 defeated by Wang Magpies 42
This week Lily Hanrahan joined the C Grade team and was a big contribution to the attack end. The second half was stronger with team fighting back and winning the last 2 quarters. Well done to Milly O’kane who stepped up from the 17s and did not miss a beat!
Awards:
Club 1 - Jemma Smith powered her way through the game in both WA & WD she dominated her positions and showed plenty of speed and fight for the ball.
Essential Beauty - Kyah Harvey was back to her usual form on Thursday. Driving hard and leading strongly in the mid court and giving plenty of opportunities to move the ball around.
Thrive Wellness - Milly O’kane plays beyond her age and showed her absolute natural instinct to read the play and intercept the ball as a defender. She turned the ball over multiple times.
MVP - Lily Hanrahan was a standout in goals for the team. She worked well and adjusted her game to both Grace and Chelsea.
Under 17s
Roos 33 defeated by Wang Magpies 48
Under 17s.
Playing a top 3 team, the girls did not miss any opportunity to push their opposition. Thanks to Tamir Richardson, Ava Phibbs and Halle Robb for playing with the 17s this week. The girls won both the first and third quarters but were not able to overcome the deficit in the score line.
Awards:
Club 1 & MVP - Eloise Black shot at 80% pulling in every pass that got to her. She was strong in the ring and confident to put up her shots.
Corowa Whisky & Chocolate - Milly O’kane played an outstanding game in GD. She was able to pull in intercepts and turn the ball over. She worked well Halle placing pressure on the Wang shooters accuracy.
Origin Clothing - Tamir Richardson adjust well to playing with new combinations. Opening up the court and feeding the shooters confidently.

Unfortunately, another slow start to the game saw our young Roo girls trail in the first quarter 9 to 3.
The next two quarters were an uphill battle as the young Roos struggled to find their rhythm ending the third 28 to 12.
Despite the gap in the scoreboard the girls continued to work hard as a team and adjusted well to a number of changes in the last quarter in which they outscored their opponents.
Coach Noel was proud of the positive mindset in the last quarter from the whole playing group and thanked Evie Lavis for seamlessly helping out on the night.
Awards:
Club 1 award- Sienna Sampson moved well in and out of the circle with clear drives giving her team a strong target to pass to. She also took on to her coach’s feedback throughout the game and started to truly believe in her strong shooting ability.
Sportspower award- Keeley Symonds really brought the defensive pressure in the game which helped the team slow the Magpie’s momentum. Her ability to change direction and drive to win the ball was another shining light for the team.
Doc’s award and MVP: Rahni Dickins continues to add the speed to the mid court which saw her get a lot of the ball in her safe hands during the game. Her feeds into the Roos shooting end are also a strength.
SS&A award- Evie Lavis donned the Roo’s dress and fitted in perfectly. Her ability to move through traffic, drive hard at the ball and work with Sienna in the circle which was a big boost of the attacking end.
