The duo participated in multiple events and achieved remarkable success against tough competition.
Julie Underwood displayed her prowess in four events, securing a well-deserved gold medal in the D Classification Quad scull. Joining forces with rowers from Albert Park and Wendouree, Julie and her crew exhibited remarkable teamwork, leading the race from start to finish and claiming the top spot on the podium.
Undeterred by the fierce competition, Julie took on the challenging D Class single scull event, which featured two rowers from the current Victorian team. continued her great form to finish strongly to claim the silver medal.
Julie teamed up with Corowa teammate Simon McFarlane in the D and C Class double scull events.
Up against a quality field in the D class the Corowa crew made a strong move and catching the early leaders with each stroke fell short by two seconds to win silver.
The last race was against younger opposition in the C Class double scull. Undeterred by the age difference, Julie and Simon matched their younger opponents to claim another silver medal.
The regatta was another great opportunity for the Corowa rowers to prepare for the upcoming National Championships held in Penrith on first week in June.
Julie and Simon will continue in the Mixed D class double and quad sculls. with Julie racing the Female single and double scull events.
The rowers have been working hard on the water at training and are looking forward to stepping up on the national stage.
