The idea of the day was to raise awareness of the Seymour Bowling Club within the community and encourage new bowlers, while raising money for district charities.
Each team of four could only include a maximum of two registered bowlers and the day was a success with 47 non-bowlers enjoying the fun, along with 25 bowlers and many families and friends.
The bar and the all-day barbecue were both kept busy.
The winning team got to nominate a district charity to receive the $1000 prizemoney, which came from generous sponsorship from Seymour Coaches and Reece Plumbing.
In addition, the raffle for a $100 voucher donated by The Seymour Club raised $500, with the raffle winner also nominating a worthy cause.
The bowls winner, after a fun and innovative one-end tiebreaker, was the team captained by Allan Welsh and featuring his family members Dot and Ken Hunt and Campbell Rohde.
The team’s nominated recipient and the big winner of the day was Seymour SES.
The raffle winner was Steve Reed’s team of Lisa Reed, Terry Dowell and Di Staples with its nominated recipient the Hilldene CFA.
Both beneficiary organisations were thrilled with the surprise and most welcome donations.
Seymour Bowls Club congratulates the organising committee of Jan, Gerard, Sandra, Linda, Bernie, Dale, Peter and Sonia and the many helpers who made the day a huge success.
The club looks forward to Charity Day 2025.
