Corowa Sharks Shine at O&M Pennant #5

The Corowa Sharks once again proved why they’re a force to be reckoned with, delivering an outstanding performance at the Ovens & Murray Pennant #5 held at the Lavington Swim Centre in North Albury.
Despite the sweltering heat, the Sharks displayed exceptional determination and sportsmanship, with nearly every swimmer achieving personal bests (PBs) and a haul of podium finishes.
Top Performances
Lucas Bellette: Dominated the pool with a first-place finish in the 200m IM and second-place finishes in the 50m Backstroke and Fly. Lucas also clocked three PBs, including an impressive 39.41 seconds in the 50m Fly.
Samuel Bellette: Clocked a swift 34.50 seconds in the 50m Freestyle, setting one of his two PBs, and secured first place in the 50m Breaststroke.
Violet Kiely: Showcased incredible form with four PBs, two first-place finishes, a second, and a third. Notably, she slashed a massive 24 seconds off her 100m Freestyle time, finishing in 1:34.23.
Marshall Lees: Achieved four PBs, highlighted by a 33.42-second finish in the 50m Freestyle. He claimed first in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, second in the 50m Breaststroke, and third in the 50m Backstroke.
Austin Lees: Achieved three PBs, including a remarkable 13.78-second improvement in the 100m Breaststroke.
Ethan Marks: Clocked 33.13 seconds in the 50m Freestyle, one of his four PBs. He claimed first in the 50m Backstroke and Breaststroke, and third in the 50m Fly.
Enya Liu: Achieved two PBs, improving times in the 50m Freestyle and Backstroke, as well as the 25m Fly and 50m Breaststroke.
Mona Liu: Delivered three PBs, including a first-place finish in the 50m Backstroke at 44.48 seconds, third in the 100m Breaststroke (1:49.90), and a time drop to 49.17 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke.

A hot but victorious day
The scorching temperatures tested the endurance of both swimmers and spectators, but the Sharks thrived under the pressure.
The coaching team praised the athletes for their focus and resilience, highlighting the club’s unwavering spirit.
Looking ahead, the Sharks are gearing up for the O&M Relay Pennant to be held on home turf at the Corowa Aquatic Centre on March 2, 2025.
With clubs from across the region coming together for this highly anticipated event, it’s set to be a spectacular day of competition. Expect cheers to echo all the way down Sanger Street as the Sharks take on their rivals.
